Simon Mostyn was first elected as a District Councillor in May 2022.

Since his election, Simon has dealt with hundreds of resident enquiries, helping residents navigate local government and secure action on matters ranging from road safety, parking and planning enforcement to housing, environmental concerns and neighbourhood amenities. He has worked closely with residents, council officers and other agencies on speeding and pedestrian safety and school-related traffic problems, parking concerns, missed bin collections, flooding, anti-social behaviour, grass verge maintenance and improvements to local public spaces.

Simon serves on the Council's Development Management and Constitution committees and is Vice Chair of the Audit and Governance Committee, bringing a careful evidence-based approach to planning decisions, scrutiny and local accountability.

Away from Council work, Simon is a senior solicitor in the telecommunications industry. He’s also an accomplished pianist who enjoys tennis and park runs and is a long suffering Tottenham Hotspur fan. Simon is also an experienced tournament bridge player who regularly represents the Hertfordshire "A" team in inter-county competitions.

Michael Mortimer Jones (District Councillor)

Michael Mortimer Jones is a solicitor who has lived in St Albans for 23 years. He lives near Hatfield Road with his wife, daughters and two dogs. He coaches the St Albans’ Cricket Club’s women’s and girls’ cricket teams and has been a church steward and Sunday school teacher. A fresh face in local politics, Michael is a strong advocate for greater social mobility and honest political discourse– and he will work towards a St Albans that provides real equal opportunities. In his spare time he supports Nottingham Forest FC.

District and county councillor Helen Campbell was first elected as a district councillor in 2018 (representing the then Marshalwsick South ward, which later became Bernards Heath) followed by election to St Albans North at the county council in 2021.

She has served as the deputy executive member for highways for Hertfordshire since May 2025 and has also served as the deputy leader of the district council since 2022.

Helen has a strong interest in reducing congestion and traffic speeds and protecting the environment and green spaces. She has been working her way around the pavements of St Albans North focusing her highways locality budget on replacements where most needed and requested by her residents.

Helen has lived in St Albans with her family since 2002 and had a long career in business journalism until the call of politics grew louder in 2016. She co-led the successful and active St Albans for Europe group for several years following the Brexit referendum.

John Hale is county councillor for the north of the ward. John Hale and his family have lived in Marshalswick for over 20 years. He has been a Sandridge Parish Councillor since 2007. Since 2017 he has been the county councillor for the area. When not acting as a councillor, John is active in the St Albans Quieter Skies campaign and has a keen interest in environmental issues. For relaxation he enjoys gardening in an organic manner.
