Lynn Cunningham (District Councillor)

Lynn Cunningham has lived in Batchwood for 19 years, and mostly enjoys its beautiful natural spaces with her dog, and the wonderful local facilities it has to offer. These green spaces are areas that  Lynn has fought to protect as a local councillor – from planting more trees to fighting inappropriate development.

District Councillor Jenni Murray was born in St Albans and lives here with her family.  She went to Garden Fields and Townsend School. Jenni regularly fundraises for Prostate UK. She has been working in Hertfordshire schools for over 20 years, currently as a Pastoral Support Officer.

Jenni is a member of St Albans Faith & Cultural Enterprise (FACE) and St Albans Museum, Black History Research Group and until recently was a Trustee of Dorant House, St Albans.

She is community driven and supports residents in the ward with housing and personal issues, replacement road signs, concerns with green space maintenance and has campaigned against idling car engines outside local schools. 

To help keep Batchwood a pleasant place to live, she has made sure that abandoned vehicles are removed, vehicle damage to verges and trees are fixed and vandalised bus shelters are repaired.

Chris Lewis (District Councillor)

Since his election in 2026, Chris Lewis has been working hard to improve the Batchwood community for local residents: getting yellow lines repainted, broken benches and bollards fixed and overgrown vegetation cut back.

He is passionate about championing community initiatives. He is a supporter of St Albans Open Door homelessness charity, and has represented Batchwood residents at events including the Guitar for Gaza concert raising money for Medical Aid for Palestinians, and the Taqwa Community Trust summer BBQ.

Chris has lived in Batchwood since 2015, after moving to the UK with his family in 2008 and choosing to move to St Albans for its beauty, unique history and strong sense of identity.

Chris is motivated by common sense politics that shuns polarisation, supports diversity, and protects our privilege as residents of an area of such considerable beauty. He is often out and about on ward walks hearing about any and all issues that he may be able to help local residents with - do say hello!

Helen Campbell (County Councillor)

County councillor Helen Campbell was first elected as a district councillor in 2018 (representing what is now Batchwood’s neighbouring ward, Bernards Heath), followed by election to St Albans North at the county council in 2021.

Helen has a strong interest in reducing congestion and traffic speeds and protecting the environment and green spaces. She has been working her way around the pavements of St Albans North focusing her highways locality budget on replacements where most needed and requested by her residents.

She has served as the deputy executive member for highways for Hertfordshire since May 2025 and has also served as the deputy leader of the district council since 2022.

Helen has lived in St Albans with her family since 2002 and had a long career in business journalism until the call of politics grew louder in 2016. She co-led the successful and active St Albans for Europe group for several years following the Brexit referendum.
