Party Officers and Committees

The Party is run, on a day-to-day basis, by a team of Officers and committees. The work of Officers and the committees is overseen by the Party Conference, which meets twice a year at meetings which all Party members can attend.

 

The Party Officers are:
 

The Party President - Chairs the Board and is the principal public representative of Party Members.

The Party Deputy President - Chairs the Constitutional Affairs Committee, and assists the Party President in being a public representative of Party Members.

The Party Leader - responsible for the political leadership of the Party and for promoting its cause in Wales.

The Party Deputy Leader and Leader of the UK Parliamentary Group - responsible for co-ordinating the work of the UK Parliamentary Group and represent the UK Parliamentary Group within the Party.

The Executive Officer for Campaigns & Communications - Chairs the Campaigns & Communications Committee and is responsible for ensuring that the responsibilities of the committee are fulfilled.

The Executive Officer for Policy Development - Chairs the Policy Development Committee and is responsible for ensuring that the responsibilities of the committee are fulfilled.

The Executive Officer for Membership Development - Chairs the Membership Development Committee and is responsible for ensuring that the responsibilities of the committee are fulfilled.

The Executive Officer for Finance & Resources - The Party's registered treasurer. Chairs the Finance & Resources Committee and is responsible for ensuring that the responsibilities of the committee are fulfilled.

The Party Treasurer - Responsible for leading the Party’s fundraising activities.

The Diversity Officer - Responsible for supporting the Party to consider and act upon the needs of diverse communities.

 

The Party committees are:
 

The Board - responsible for maintaining a strategic overview and direction of the party.

The Campaigns & Communications Committee - responsible for running campaigns, the selection of candidates and the party's presence in the media.

The Policy Development Committee - responsible for developing the Party's policies.

The Membership Development Committee - responsible for recruiting new members, and supporting members such as candidates, campaigners and those involved in running local parties.

The Finance & Resources Committee - responsible for managing the Party's finances and resources.

The Conference Committee - responsible for organising Party Conference meetings, including setting the agenda.

The Constitutional Affairs Committee - responsible for maintaining the Party's constitution, including proposing amendments to keep it up to date and relevant.

The Welsh Liberal Democrats have a Declaration of Interests Policy to prevent any conflict of interest that may arise for individuals between their role as members of, or contributors to the work of, committees or staff of the Welsh Liberal Democrats and their private or family interests or their association with other voluntary or community organisations, public authorities, commercial organisations or other bodies.
