Our Party

The Welsh Liberal Democrats were founded in 1988, following the merger of the Liberal Party and Social Democratic Party.

Unlike other parties, we are a democratic organisation in which members decide our policy, elect our leader, and more.

Our local parties are independent and work hard in their communities - giving local people a voice and deciding how their neighbourhoods are run.

We are also part of the wider Liberal Democrat family of regional and state parties, with Scotland and the regions of England.
