Local Liberal Democrats Jane Dodds MS and David Chadwick have called on Lloyds Bank and LINK to keep their promise to Ystradgynlais and ensure local residents continue to have access to cash. This comes after Lloyds Bank announced in March their decision to close their Ystradgynlais branch.

Jane and David hosted a public meeting of local residents in Ystradgynlais in April 2023 to hear from residents.

Commenting, Jane Dodds MS said:

“The closure of Lloyds Bank in Ystradgynlais is a huge blow to the town, and is yet another community in Powys left without a bank.

“Local residents were rightly furious about Lloyds’ plans to pack up and leave, and the failure of Lloyds bank to send representatives to our public meeting to hear residents’ concerns.

“Lloyds Bank and LINK must now keep their promise to Ystradgynlais and ensure that there is a cash point installed immediately to ensure that local residents and businesses have access to cash.”

David Chadwick, Liberal Democrat candidate for Brecon, Radnorshire and Cwm Tawe added:

“Our rural communities continue to be left behind by Labour and Conservative politicians in Westminster and Cardiff bay. We deserve better.

“The Conservatives’ cost of living crisis is leaving people in Ystradgynlais and beyond in dire straits, and the loss of banking services in rural communities will make it even harder for people to access the advice and support they need in these difficult times.

“Communities across Brecon, Radnorshire and Cwm Tawe deserve a local champion who will fight tooth and nail for our communities and to protect local services. The Liberal Democrats and I will keep fighting for our communities.”
