Location: Flexible working from offices in either Pontardawe, Brecon or Llandrindod Wells, with travel across the constituency as needed.
Purpose of the job: To “put more gold on the map” getting more Welsh Liberal Democrat MSs, MPs, and councillors elected within the constituency. To work with volunteers to increase capacity and deliver intensive year-round political campaigns.
Closing date: Thursday, 24th July
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a winning team in a held parliamentary constituency, as the local party gears up towards next year’s Senedd elections, local council elections the following year, and beyond.
Working with the local MP, MS, councillors and campaigners across the constituency, you’ll help make campaigning happen - whether that’s organising teams of door-knockers, designing leaflets read by thousands of people, or keeping in touch with residents on our growing email lists.
This role is perfect for someone who wants to use and develop their skills in campaigning, communications, marketing and public relations within a fast-paced political context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with activists – through regular campaigning, you will recruit new volunteers and upskill existing ones. You will organise and train our volunteers to get the most out of them while making campaigning fun.
- Increase campaign output – help plan and execute weekly campaign activities, including communicating regularly with volunteers to organise canvassing, delivery, telephoning, and joining volunteers for those campaign activities.
- Help get the campaign done – most of the job is active campaigning out and about, but will sometimes involve running of events, work in the office, and preparing stakeboards.
Person Specification:
- You know how to organise yourself and get things done with attention to detail, in a busy work environment with competing deadlines.
- You can create a fun campaigning atmosphere, motivate people and get the best out of them. You have strong interpersonal skills and can work in a team.
- You will stay on top of your workload, communicating effectively with the team to make sure everyone knows what needs doing.
- You are good at setting priorities and targets and sticking to them. You can multitask, and have good verbal and written communication skills.
- You care enough to do what needs to be done to help us deliver a winning campaign.
- You have a working knowledge of standard office practices and computer software packages.
- You have a full (and preferably clean) driving licence, and access to your own car.
- Experience of engaging with a range of audiences and good Welsh language skills would be desirable.
