Increasingly, packaging is falling under the spotlight of media and public attention with the debate is growing over how the excessive use of packaging can be curbed, along with what role should Government, industry and individuals play in its reduction.
The Green Liberal Democrats (GLD) is a campaigning organisation seeking to maximise the influence of the Party on sustainability. The GLD helps develop policies to tackle issues ranging from climate change and biodiversity loss to light pollution and over-packaging. It works with the Party's national policy working groups; Councillors; MPs; MEPs; and individuals, providing ideas, information and advice.
The Liberal Democrats will be debating 'Zero Carbon Britain - Taking a Global Lead' on 17th September at the party's conference at Brighton. The main proposals include:
