Green Lib Dems welcome debate on Zero Carbon Britain

4 Sep 2007

Green Liberal Democrats have welcomed the opportunity to debate plans to make Britain a zero carbon country by the middle of the century.

The plans will be debated by Liberal Democrats at the party's conference in Brighton on 17th September and as the largest campaigning organisation within the party the Green Liberal Democrats will be making their voices heard.

Adam Carew, Chairman of the Green Liberal Democrats said, "unlike the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats have always been at the forefront of the environmental movement. The Green Liberal Democrats have long argued that green issues and Climate change in particular need to be at the very top of our political agenda."

"We are determined to make Britain a carbon neutral country," he argued. "That will mean that we will be producing overall no extra carbon dioxide, the main polluting gas that is leading to climate change. The proposals put forward to conference will certainly stimulate much exciting debate."
