Britain is facing a difficult year. Every day, 200 families are now at risk of losing their homes, and three million people could be out of a job. The government got us into this mess and haven't got the right ideas to get us out of it. The Conservatives want to do nothing - they wouldn't lift a finger to help.
Firstly, I would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year, and hope that you enjoyed the Christmas break in the company of family, friends and loved ones.

A true friend is someone who's prepared to tell you when you're wrong or you've made a mistake - even when they know that message may not immediately help your friendship. With its current massive attack on Gaza, Israel is clearly wrong. Worse still, it's in danger of making a historic mistake.
Shepway Liberal Democrats wish all readers, family and friends a very happy Christmas and an enjoyable new year.

Commenting on provisional approval by the EU of EDF's takeover of British Energy, Liberal Democrat Shadow Energy and Climate Change Secretary, Steve Webb said:
Gordon Brown has, at last, announced a date for withdrawing our troops from Iraq. In 2003, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and the Labour Party, wholeheartedly supported by the Conservatives considered Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and long range missiles, and its continuing non-compliance with Security Council Resolutions, pose a threat to international peace and security.
The Liberal Democrats are taking a stand to hold tech companies accountable, equip the police with the right powers, and build a digital world where women and girls can live safely and without fear.
Supporting people to age well and maintain their independence is better for them and common-sense for the NHS. The Liberal Democrats are taking a stand to fix social care, protect our NHS, and ensure everyone can age well in their own home and community.
Liberal Democrat members have renewed our commitment to fix the front door of the NHS, restore patient choice, end dental deserts, and ensure preventative care is accessible before health problems turn into emergencies.
Ed Davey is a husband, a father and a carer. He is the Leader of the Liberal Democrats.
It is Ed’s experience of caring that drives much of his politics, and motivates his tireless campaigning for a fair deal.
Meet our representatives and candidates.
