Dover Port 48 hour strike begins
Workers at Dover Harbour have started a 48-hour strike in a row over transfer of their jobs to another company. Dover Harbour Board said it was confident it could run the port at a "near full" service despite the strike, but plans are in place for a possible implementation of Operation Stack between junctions 11 and 12 of the M20.

Series of assaults on women in Greatstone: Loseby urges residents to stay safe
Police patrols are being stepped up in Grand Parade, Greatstone on Romney Marsh after three attacks on women who were out alone on Friday night and early Saturday morning. One of them was a serious sexual assault, while the other two were physical attacks.

Second Folkestone based Gurkha in two weeks killed in action in Afghanistan
A second soldier from the Folkestone based 2nd battalion of the Royal Gurkha Rifles has died on service in Afghanistan. The soldier died in a bomb blast in southern Afghanistan on Saturday after his vehicle hit an explosive device while on patrol, the Ministry of Defence has said.

You don't have to be smart to vote Lib Dem, but it helps says new research...
Academic research published in the journal Intelligence compares the way people voted in the 2001 election with their IQ at the age of 10 (using data from the 1970 British cohort study), and found that, on average, Lib Dem and Green voters have a higher IQ than supporters of other Parties.

Ryanair bird strike crash highlights unsuitability of Lydd airport expansion: Matthews
The recent emergency landing of a Ryanair 737 in Rome, which slid to a stop with its port engine touching the ground, has highlighted why Lydd Airport's plans to take similar jets are totally unsuitable according to Neil Matthews, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Folkestone & Hythe.
