Eastbourne District General Hospital

Protect our DGH Maternity Services

Our DGH was closed for births on nearly a quarter of days in 2023.

A Freedom of Information request to East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, filed by DGH campaigner Josh Babarinde, revealed that the DGH midwifery unit was closed for births for 87 days in 2023 - 24% of the year.

This meant that more Eastbourne mums had to give birth elsewhere.

Our town deserves better.

Government underinvestment in our NHS has led to severe staff shortages, pushing hospitals to breaking point.

Josh Babarinde is calling for the Conservative Government to:

  1. Step in to protect DGH maternity services, so that Eastbourne's hospital is available to safely have their children in.
  2. Invest in our hardworking midwives and nurses, to ensure that Eastbourne DGH midwifery unit has the staffing it needs to operate year round.

Will you help protect our maternity services by signing the petition?

Protect our DGH Maternity Unit

I/we support Josh Babarinde’s call to for the Government to intervene to protect DGH maternity services for local families.
