As Liberal Democrats and Green Liberal Democrats we are all aware that Climate Change is the number one issue facing humanity. The IPCC Report in October 2018 made it very clear that we only have twelve years left to radically alter our impact on the planet to limit the climate change dangers of extreme weather, drought, floods and poverty.
It is clear that developing an unconventional oil and gas industry in the UK will result in unacceptable negative impacts on local communities, local democracy, energy security, jobs, the climate, health and the environment, and that the government should instead be urgently developing an energy policy and infrastructure that provides the clean renewable energy future that our country - and the planet - so desperately needs.
In October there was a very interesting briefing by UNCTAD of its report on Debt Vulnerabilities in Developing Countries: "A New Debt Trap? and its Trade and Development report." It was the first of these reports that interested me most due to its coverage on the alarming trends in debt and extent of the debt crisis.
