Welsh Lib Dems announce candidate for Clwyd East ahead of general election

Today (4th January 2024) the Welsh Liberal Democrats have announced that they have chosen Alec Dauncey as their prospective candidate for Clwyd East.

Mr Dauncey, a part-time lecturer at Bangor University, has strong ties to the constituency having started his working life in the Clocaenog Forest whilst also having close family living in the area for many years.

Commenting, PPC Alec Dauncey said:

“I am delighted to have been chosen as the prospective candidate for Clwyd East.

This general election, we the Welsh Liberal Democrats will be fighting for the future of our nation and its future generations.

I will be campaigning strongly for effective action to address the climate emergency and for closer ties with Europe to help reverse the economic decline we have seen and suffered through as a nation.”

Commenting, Chair of Clwyd East and Flintshire Liberal Democrats Lionel Prouvé said:

“As Chair of the Clwyd East and Flintshire Lib Dems, I am delighted to announce that Alec Dauncey has been chosen as our Party prospective candidate for the forthcoming general election.

Alec has a wealth of experience that makes him the ideal candidate to represent this region, experience which includes working as a special advisor to former Welsh Lib Dem ministers Mike German and Jenny Randerson.

I am more than confident that Alec will be an effective champion for our whole area.”
