Bangor Aberconwy Liberal Democrats

Bangor Aberconwy Liberal Democrats is the local party covering the Bangor Aberconwy constituency.

We are working hard for the residents of Bangor Aberconwy, but we want to do more.

For this we need your help, starting with the Senedd Election 2026.

Bangor-Conwy-Mon is a Senedd constituency consisting of two Westminster constituencies: Bangor-Aberconwy and Gwynedd-Mon.  It's a geographically large and diverse constituency that needs strong representation in the Senedd.   The two local LibDem parties are working together to provide it.

Senedd Election 2026

We want you to vote.

The Senedd voting system is simple

  1. You have one vote
  2. You vote for a party
  3. Your vote counts

On 7th May, we’d like you to put your X alongside the LibDem Party.

Why does YOUR vote count?

Because LibDems can win seats in this election.  More votes means more seats.

Bangor-Conwy-Mon will have 6 Senedd seats.  The parties will have members in proportion to the votes cast for them. So, if Plaid gets 34% of the votes, Reform UK gets 33% and LibDems get 33%, then each will have 2 Senedd Members.

This is much fairer than the first-past-the-post system used in Westminster where Plaid would have 6 members and the rest none: 34% of voters getting their choice; and 66% not getting any representation.

Why should you vote LibDem in the Senedd 2026 election?

Because LibDems can make a difference.   The next Welsh Government will be led by either Plaid or Reform UK, but neither will have a majority.  That means they can only do things with LibDem support.

Also, the Senedd works in conjunction with councillors and Westminster parliament.  LibDems are best placed to do this effectively.

Council Elections 2027

To tackle local issues, people tend to choose the person who they know will ‘get things done’.   LibDem councillors are famous for getting things done and we've a good number of councillors, but we hope for more.  In North Wales there are lots of independent councillors with limited party allegiance or none – local people who are known and respected in their community.  LibDems have an added advantage - they work closely with Senedd Members and MPs on issues that need solutions across Wales and the UK such as transport, support for tourism, and farming.

Westminster Election 2029

LibDems have over 70 MPs, more than any party except Labour and the Conservatives. However, we don’t get the publicity we deserve because our sensible and workable solutions aren’t sensational. We produce practical solutions to issues such as the cost of living, health care and the health service - not just sound bites.

Who are the Bangor-Aberconwy LibDems?

At the moment, the focus is on the Bangor-Conwy-Mon candidates for the Senedd, but Bangor-Aberconwy LibDems have representatives on most levels of government, including members of the House of Lords, Conwy CBC, and various town and community councils across Conwy and Gwynedd.  To find out more about them, click the link.
