Welsh Candidates Sub-Committee
Finding, Supporting, and Overseeing Candidates
This committee ensures the party has strong, well-supported candidates across Wales.
It:
Identifies and encourages potential candidates, Returning Officers, Assessors, and others involved in the process.
Keeps track of, and provides support to, all potential and approved candidates.
Organises assessment days for new applicants.
Reviews social media checks and other risk assessments and takes action where necessary.
Builds and trains the Welsh pool of Returning Officers and Assessors.
Works with other party bodies to improve diversity among candidates.
Runs all selections in Wales and ensures they follow the party’s rules.
Reviews and updates the selection rules, proposing changes to the Board when needed.
Maintains all documents related to assessments, selections, and candidate conduct.
Organises training for candidates, working with the Federal team and the Welsh Membership Development Committee.
Conducts post-election candidate reviews.
Can withdraw a candidate’s approved status if circumstances require it.
Carries out everything required of a Candidates Committee under the Federal Constitution.
