Government failing in green education - Doughty

31 Jul 2003

A report published today by the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee, has criticised the Department for Education and Skills for failing to promote environmental sustainability through life-long learning.

Sue Doughty MP, Liberal Democrat Member of the Environmental Audit Committee, said:

"It is difficult to understand why the government has not put more effort into ensuring that schools give children the information they need on the environment.

"We are working to save the planet for our children - they need to know why."
