Cllr Jack Dart is speaking at GLD Conference 2019
I'm very excited to be representing the young people of the UK at the Green Lib Dem conference. I'm even more excited to be joined by a roster of superb activists and Liberals who are passionate about solving some of the most urgent issues in history. We have but a few years to get our act together, otherwise we'll be condemning future generations to a lifetime of misery and unrest.
The climate is being neglected, our ecosystems damaged, and our futures destroyed. This is little more than tragic, and if we don't act now, we could see irreversible erosion of our atmosphere and a dying planet die sooner.
What we are doing is nothing short of conscious global vandalism, but action seems not to be at the top of everybody's action list. By the year 2050 an estimated 143 million people will have been displaced due to climate change, according to the world bank. That's the same population as the entire country of Russia. That sort of figure is eye watering and extremely alarming.
This brings us here, 2019, a year where progress seems to be taking effect. But more must be done. Please join us in Nottingham where we'll be speaking about progress, answering questions on what can be done, and where we are heading.
