Booking your accommodation for the Green Lib Dem conference in May
Take advantage of this promotion
In order to reduce the stresses of making sure I am at the conference venue promptly on the morning of 19th May I just decided to book myself into the De Vere Hotel on the Jubilee Campus for the night of Friday 18th May. Early breakfast, two minute walk to the conference venue along the lakeside walkway, Hey Presto, I am onsite. I do not have to worry about last minute traffic jams in Nottingham, even though I only live near Newark, less than an hour away on a good day.
I booked through Booking.com and they are currently running a promotion!! They sent me a link, which I have to send to all my friends and if you were to book your accommodation through Booking.com they will send you £15 and - I have to declare and interest here! - they will send ME £15 as well.
Now, I make this public declaration - if it happens that I get to receive more than one of these £15 commissions I undertake to donate at least half of my receipts to GLD funds. and I propose to keep up to half as recompense for chasing around organising the conference. This could be like that famous Hoover promotion, many years ago, to send people to Disneyland in Florida and which cost the company far more than the profits they would have made! Wouldn`t that be fun.
I booked the De Vere hotel for £69 on the Friday night and for both Friday and Saturday nights it would be £160 in total, so effectively you could stay on Jubilee Campus on the Friday night for £54 and it is a nice hotel. You don`t have to book the De Vere, though. As I understand it you simply have to make your booking using this link and you will get your £15 - so you can book any city centre hotel and get more than the taxi fare in to the conference. All of which reminds me of a joke from the distant past....
A young fit man decided he was fed up with paying public transport fares to get to work and back, so he decided to run to work instead. He told his friends that he deliberately waited for the bus to come along in the morning and then ran behind the bus all the way to work and then in the evening he did the same thing to go home. He said it made him feel good for saving the bus fare each way as well as keeping fit!
His best friend looked thoughtful for a while and then said to him "Why don`t you wait for a taxi to come along - you`ll feel much better - you`ll be saving a lot more money!"
OK - enough humour for one evening here is the Booking.com link.

Good luck!
