Aimee Challenor will be speaking at the GLD 2019 Conference
On the 15th of this month, the Green Liberal Democrats Annual Conference is being held in Nottingham. I've been lucky enough to be asked to be a part of a youth panel at the conference, and I'm really looking forward to attending, so we can discuss the importance of taking Climate Action.
I'm going to be speaking alongside some other amazing young activists to discuss various environmental concerns. On the panel, I'm going to be talking about the importance of making public transport accessible, attractive, and greener, so that we can get more people using it, and reducing the cars on the road. I'll also be talking about tackling the plastic waste crisis whilst living a 21st-century life, such as the very popular Bottle Deposit Schemes.
As a former executive member and national spokesperson for the Green Party of England and Wales, I know how crucial it is that we tackle the Climate Emergency, and I'm proud that Liberal Democrats have been at the forefront of calling for urgent action to be taken. We see Ed Davey calling for us to "Decarbonise Capitalism" and Jo Swinson supporting the Extinction Rebellion protests in London, with local Focus teams supporting Student Climate Action Protests in their areas.
Liberal Democrats were the first major political party to call for a zero-carbon Britain; we believe this target must be met by 2045, contributing to a zero-carbon EU by 2050. We push for an EU-wide ban on Fracking, fighting deforestation, and coming up with plans to stop pollution.
The Youth 'Time for Action' Panel is going to be a really engaging discussion for Young Green Lib Dems, and Green Lib Dems who are young at heart.
Joining me will be; James and Jack Dart; eXtinction Rebellion activist Sam Harris, Leena Sarah Farhat, and Joel Baccas. It will be chaired by Pushkin Choudhury.
So join me on June 15th and please, Keep Your Hands and Arms Inside the Plastic Waste and Remain Seated At All Times.
