We are concerned at the announced closure of 24/7 front counter services at Twickenham Police station. This would leave our entire borough without any public access points, leaving residents without a way to report a crime, provide documentation, or seek support from the police in person. Following the closure of Richmond Police Station and the scrapping of the Royal Parks Police Units, we won't tolerate further cuts to local police services. We demand the Mayor of London keeps front counter services at Twickenham Police station open.
Cllr Gareth Roberts, Council Leader and London Assembly Member for the South West Constituency, is fighting against the closure of front counter services at Twickenham Police Station.
He said: “The decision to axe half of London’s police counters will come as a massive shock to many Londoners. At a time when crime, and the fear of crime, is on the rise across the capital this not only sends the wrong message, but is yet more evidence that Sadiq Khan is failing in his duty to the to make the case to the Labour Government for the funding needed to keep London and Londoners safe.”
