Fix Neighbourhood Policing and Community Safety
Feeling safe where you live matters, and strong neighbourhood policing is essential to that. Liberal Democrats believe policing works best when officers are visible, properly resourced, and embedded in the communities they serve. Officers who know their areas build trust, deter crime, and help residents feel reassured in their day-to-day lives.
Policing must rebuild public confidence by focusing on local presence, timely responses, and proper follow-up for victims. We support a Burglary Response Guarantee, so that every burglary is properly investigated and victims know their case will be taken seriously. People are far more likely to report crime and antisocial behaviour when they know officers will respond, stay involved, and see issues through.
We have already spoken out against proposals to close the 24-hour police front counter at Bromley Police Station and we will continue to oppose any changes that reduce access to policing services. Residents should be able to walk into a police station and get help when they need it, particularly at times of crisis. Protecting round-the-clock access to policing is a vital part of keeping communities safe.
We will keep pressing the Metropolitan Police and decision-makers to ensure the whole of the London Borough of Bromley is properly prioritised and not overlooked. Neighbourhood policing prevents crime, reassures residents, and strengthens communities — and we will continue to make the case for the resources and local presence every ward in the borough deserves.
