We are
delighted to announce that Rt Hon Sir Norman Lamb has agreed to visit Bromley
Lib Dems to give us a talk about his political career & his involvement in
the health sector particularly with regards to his campaigning on mental health
issues.
He was
the Liberal Democrat MP for North Norfolk from 2001 to 2019 and he was Chair of
the Science and Technology Select Committee from 2017 to 2019, elected by all
MPs.
He has
served as Minister of State for Care and Support in the Department of Health
from 2012 to 2015 and was Parliamentary Private Secretary to. Nick Clegg in the
Conservative-Liberal Democrat Coalition Government.
As
Health Minister Norman worked to reform the care system and led the drive to
integrate health social care with a greater focus on preventing ill health. He
also challenged the NHS to ensure that mental health was treated with the same
priority as physical health including the introduction of access and waiting
standards in mental health for the first time
He was
knighted in the 2019 Birthday Honours list and appointed chair of South London
and Maudsley NHS foundation Trust in December 2019.
Norman
was a Solicitor in Norwich before his election to the House of Commons and was
previously a Councillor on Norwich City Council.
This should be a fascinating talk
followed by a Q&A so please put it in your diaries & book a place with

Steve Gosling, our Bromley area representative, invites you to join us for drinks at the Railway Tavern - first round kindly on Steve.
We are looking forward to discussing local, national and international issues (as well as anything else...) with like-minded people.
It can’t have passed your notice that there’s an extremely controversial individual in control of the world’s largest military. His actions and those of his billionaire sidekicks may have caused you some minor consternation. Rather than tutting at the radio, alone, why not join us and we can all tut along together.
We might even talk about how we can avoid the same outcome here.
Ps. We understand that pubs are not for everyone, and will be looking to do run a similar event at a café later in the Spring.
We hope to see you there!
Join the Orpington Team for our action day - meet at 2 p.m. work until 4 p.m. and meet at the Liberal Club at 4 for a relaxing refreshment.
