Protect Dulwich from High-Rise Overdevelopment
Labour councillors have broken local planning rules by backing an 8-storey tower block next to East Dulwich station — a building completely out of place in our low-rise community.
The new block would replace the old Jewson’s Builders Yard. But local policy is clear: new buildings in East Dulwich should reflect the area’s suburban character — no more than two or three storeys high.
Instead of standing up for local residents, Labour councillors voted for height — and for developers.
Liberal Democrat campaigners James Barber and Luke McSorley are fighting back. They say the proposed high-rise will damage the look, feel, and community character of East Dulwich and Goose Green.
James Barber said:
“This high-rise will tower over homes and streets. It’s out of place, out of scale, and out of step with the local area.”
“There are clear planning rules to protect this part of SE22. Labour ignored them. They chose developers over residents.”
We believe East Dulwich deserves better.
