Sewage in your area

Find out how many times sewage was dumped in your constituency in 2023

Loch Leven

Our plan to deal with sewage

We would pass a Clean Water Act to clean up Scotland's waterways which would see:

  1. Scotland’s Victorian sewage network updated
  2. Every sewage dump monitored and published with binding targets for their reduction.
  3. blue flag system for Scotland’s rivers.
  4. And a complete ban on the release of sewage in protected areas such as bathing waters.

Back our campaign to stop sewage dumping

Sewage was released into our rivers and waterways almost 21,660 times in Scotland last year.

It is absolutely disgusting and the SNP/Green government should be ashamed for allowing it to continue.

Yet this is probably only the tip of the iceberg, as Scotland only monitors a small fraction of sewage overflows, compared to 100% in England, so the true scale of this problem is likely much larger.

Stop Sewage Dumping

We need an acceleration of measures to upgrade Scotland's Victorian sewage systems and prevent sewage being dumped 21,660 times into our rivers and onto our beaches.
