Reilly responds to ScotRail fare increase
Responding to the news that Scottish Government-owned ScotRail will hike rail fares by 4.8% from July, Scottish Liberal Democrat transport spokesperson Jill Reilly said:
“This hike is a kick in the teeth for passengers up and down the country. The Scottish Government announced a fare freeze to great fanfare but it has only lasted six months.
“Passengers have had to put up with delays and disruption and today's news will mean more people think twice about using greener transport.
“The Scottish Government must cancel their fare hike. They should also listen to Scottish Liberal Democrat calls for new two/three day a week season tickets and new lines, especially in areas where public transport links are poor.”
