Cole-Hamilton responds to ScotWind interview
Responding to Shona Robison’s interview on Good Morning Scotland in which she discussed Scottish Government cuts and plans to spend £460 million of cash remaining from the ScotWind scheme, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:
“If the SNP hadn’t mismanaged the finances, gone so overbudget on the ferries or poured money into now bankrupt firms then they wouldn’t have to announce cuts to mental health and support for GPs.
“The SNP have spent North Sea renewables revenues like there’s no tomorrow. By next spring there will be nothing left.
“For years they bemoaned Margaret Thatcher’s decision not to set up a wealth fund financed by the oil and gas beneath the seabed. Now they’ve destroyed any chance of a long-term fund from the windfarms being built above it.
“They would rather use all the cash to paper over their financial mismanagement instead of leaving money for anyone else after the next election.”
