Stephen Harte
Personal Statement:
Please re-elect me as a Scottish representative to the Federal Council.
I have served in this role since the Federal Council was created and been a voice for ensuring the Scottish Party’s interests were proceed and advanced.
I joined the Scottish Liberal Party as a student in Glasgow, shortly before merger and as such I was one of the founder members of the Scottish Liberal Democrats.
I have campaigned for Lib Dem candidates across Scotland and, for the first time, next year I have been selected to fight Bathgate, the seat in which I grew up and went to school, in the Holyrood General election.
I live in Edinburgh West with my partner and our cat.
What skills/experience will you bring to the role?
Why vote to re-elect me to the Federal Council?
I bring the analytical head of an experienced lawyer to the task of scrutinising (constructively) the Federal Board.
I have deep experience of committee service in a variety of contexts and know how to get the best from them.
I come to meetings prepared.
I don’t waste the Council’s time.
I work with other Scottish members to make sure the Federal Party doesn’t ignore us or let us down.
What do you hope to achieve if elected?
The Federal Council is still searching for its role. It must become more effective or it does not deserve the survive. I have been working with others to improve its effectiveness and will continue to do so.
