Personal Statement: 

I’m Greg Foster and I’m running for re-election to the Scottish Executive Committee.
Over the last two years on the Executive, I've made a real difference to the party. I led the Review into the last round of Internal Elections, which has resulted in a range of changes to (hopefully) make this round go more smoothly, I've done the graft to implement hybrid voting for Parliamentary selections, saving the party money and enabling us to not only select Scottish Parliament candidates earlier than ever, but also ensure members had a chance to vote for their candidates.
When you vote for me, you won't just be voting for someone to sit on a committee and share their thoughts, I'll roll my sleeves up and get stuck in.

What skills/experience will you bring to the role?

I worked for the Liberal Democrats for over 12 years. During that time I worked in both Wales and Scotland, as well as in Federal roles. Over that time, I had roles working in Campaigns, Membership and Technology. I understand elections, I understand membership and I also have a decent head for Technology.
Over my time working for the Federal Party, I led development for Lighthouse and Fleet, transformed the membership program into a modern structure that will work for decades to come, implemented the supporter scheme, raised record-breaking amounts of money from small donors and developed almost all of the training materials still in use for Membership today.
That gives me a huge depth of knowledge - I know how the party works in practice (and how it’s supposed to in theory!).
I also have extensive experience working in commercial CRM Marketing roles, which allow me to bring my marketing experience, internal communications, data expertise and understanding of other ways of working to bring a balanced perspective.

What do you hope to achieve if elected?

I’m passionate about improving our membership recruitment and engagement, candidate selections and internal elections.
Over the last two years, I've been able to make a huge difference on selections and I hope, internal elections. With Westminster selections starting up again soon, I'm hoping we can repeat our success on Scottish Parliament selections and that over the next two years, we can start to make serious strides on improving membership recruitment and the membership experience and will push for work to be done in these areas.
