Personal Statement:

I am standing for the Executive Committee because I believe our party’s strength comes from building strong local bases around the country. That begins by empowering members, building local capacity, and ensuring our structures work for everyone.
For the past four years I have served as a local party officer, first as secretary and now as convenor. Being from a smaller local party, I know how hard it is to build and feel supported when not in a target area. However I have seen also how giving just a bit of help can start to get things back off the ground.
The next few years are going to be vital for our party as we have a great opportunity not only for growth at Holyrood next year but the following year being vital to get councillors elected particularly outside our current areas of strength and see growth new hubs of activity.
With the political landscape in a massive state of change, it is time for the party to start to push a new direction and we need to make sure that the party is ready to make the case across Scotland and start to look towards not just growth of our representation but also growth of our party membership.
I am committed to bringing a fresh voice to the executive and helping to improve the processes to best support our smaller local parties growing and being active in the coming years. I would be grateful for your support.

What skills/experience will you bring to the role?

• 4 years of being a local party officer, both as Convenor and Secretary.
 • Candidate at local, Holyrood and Westminster level.
 • 8+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer.
 • Perspective of being part of a local party out width our target areas.
 • Experienced campaigner, going round the country to help support candidates.
 • Knowledgeable on the parties technology systems.

What do you hope to achieve if elected?

If elected, my priorities will be:
 • Improving internal communication, so members and local parties understand what the Executive Committee is doing and how decisions are made. We often hear things at federal level but not at a Scotland level enough.
 • Supporting local parties, particularly in areas where organisation is thin, by making sure there are better links between local parties and the executive to keep a track on how they are doing, their growth plans and what support they might need.
 • Ensuring inclusivity, with clear processes that encourage not just growth but participation from under-represented groups in all parts of Scotland.
