'Medway Lib Dems say that pet theft is a crime, as our 3 local Conservative MP's failed to back pet theft law.'

In a vote on Monday 5th July, 354 Conservatives including Medway's three MPs blocked efforts to make pet theft a crime in its own right, and voted against making it a specific criminal offence. with stiffer penalties for offenders. Under the current law, pets are treated as property, with no distinction between a family's beloved dog and a stolen bike. Meanwhile, pet theft is up 250% in the past year as the value of pets has soared during lockdown.

'Local Lib Dems have been consistent in calling for electric vehicle charging points for Medway'

Local Liberal Democrats have welcomed the news that Medway Council have announced it will install electric vehicle charging points in three council owned car parks later this month at Rochester multi storey car park in Cory's Road, in Station Road car park, Rainham, and in the Commercial Road car park in Strood.

Medway Liberal Democrats welcome the Council's U-Turn on the 'No Mow May' Campaign

Like most Medway residents, Medway Liberal Democrats were disappointed by the announcement by Conservative Council Cllr Leader Jarrett that he intends to end the much needed and supported 'No Mow May' campaign setup by Plant Life. However, we now welcome the U-turn by the Medway Conservatives when they received a massive backlash by the public, and now have agreed to continue the campaign next year.

The World Health Organisation recognise that air pollution is the largest environmental health risk we face today. It causes heart and lung diseases, is linked to low birth weight and children's lung development and may even contribute to mental health issues. Every year, air pollution causes up to 36,000 deaths in the UK.
