Medway Matters - Watling Ward News

Cllr. Diana Smith reports.....

Residents' survey:

We would like to thank those who responded to the 'Residents' Survey' about the proposed merger of Medway Maritime and Darenth hospitals and the proposed estuary airport which was in our last FOCUS leaflet. Of course, the merger of the hospitals is not now going to happen but unfortunately, no decision will be made about the airport until after 2015.

Happily we were able to respond to most of your requests and concerns but unfortunaely, some people did not provide us with their contact details. Your FOCUS Team welcomes the opportunity to work with you and for Diana as your LibDem ward councillor to contact the council on your behalf, but we do need your contact details to be able to give you personal feedback and engage with you more effectively. Such contact details would be treated in the strictest of confidentiality.

Gillingham Park - Phase Four on the way:

Diana is delighted that a poppy meadow will be planted in the park to commemorate the start of the First World War. Further improvements will include replacing the old seats; resurfacing the path near the play area; some of the older shrubs will be replaced and the herbaceous planting around the paths will be extended. The sculpture trail will be completed with additional stepping stones and timber edges and a second pergola will be erected beside the winter garden with a tree seat with a carved history and timeline between the two pergolas. Diana contributed £400 from the ward inmprovement fund towards the plans.

Dog fouling:

Dogs' mess continues to be a problem around the ward. The FOCUS Team once again ask owners to clear up after their dogs.

PCSO:

Watling ward has a new PCSO in Sean Brooks. Our Medway Community Warden is Ian Sears.

Tony Jeacock reports.........

We will shortly be out and about delivering pre-EU election leaflets throughout the ward. We have a wonderfully dedicated band of deliverers who kindly use their free time to help me and Diana deliver leaflets from time to time throughout the ward, but the fact is, we need more help still.

During a nice day or a pleasant evening, this can be an enjoyable experience and quite fun when working a street or streets with others at the same time, and of course, it is good exercise too. So! if there is anyone out there who would like to come and join us, please contact me as follows: Tony Jeacock (Campaign Committee Chair) Medway Liberal Democrats; 01634 268328 or 07957 238722 or ajjeacock@aol.com

I look forward to your stampede!
