Medway Liberal Democrats response to Coronavirus
As the Coronavirus/COVID-19 crisis continues, people in Medway are understandably worried, and this has been a tough, frightening and challenging time for many across our towns.

The priority must be protecting the most vulnerable and a maximum level of support for businesses and public sector workers. People are afraid for their health, but also for their livelihoods. They want to know that - in the face of this extraordinary crisis - their livelihoods and businesses are secure.

John Castle, spokesperson for Medway Liberal Democrats said "There is a significant number of homeless people living in our towns, who are impacted by the crisis, some of whom are children and people living in temporary accommodation.
Funds should be made available to the voluntary sector immediately to support these organisations who are facing an increase in demand for their services and have seen funding reduced. Medway's homeless are already seeing alot of soup kitchens closing, and at the same time, charities are facing additional pressure, dealing with sickness and personal care responsibilities.

We recognise and value all those working tirelessly on the frontline, NHS staff, healthcare key workers, volunteers and professionals, not just in Medway but everywhere

These times are unprecedented in modern history, and one of the biggest crises that Medway has faced, and our community will depend on people and organisations going further than they are used to. It is vital we all follow the advice given, and stay at home, to save lives and protect the NHS."
