Medway Liberal Democrats Demand a Budget for Community Policing - Small Business Saturday 2025

5 Dec 2025

Years of Conservative mismanagement left frontline policing overstretched and under-resourced. The Budget announcement failed to provide the support needed for the police, who were keen to see funding for extra officers on the beat.

Nicholas Chan, spokesperson for Chatham and Aylesford says, "I've seen Kent Police working hard on recent crackdowns that lead to 123 arrests on Chatham High Street. I believe the Chancellor has missed another opportunity.

As we highlighted in the last Police and Crime Commissioner election, Liberal Democrats highlighted, abolishing the Commissioner post and using it's freed-up money to support more community policing, Chatham High Street could have been supported more strongly and much earlier."
