Ian Rex-Hawkes

Ian has lived in Greenford for over eight years.  He is a Chartered Financial Planner with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), currently working for his own firm.  Ian has taken an interest in politics since the Brexit referendum.  He has watched with horror at the degradation of UK politics over the last three Prime Ministers in particular, and hopes to have enough influence one day to change the basis of elections to make majority governments the exception rather than the norm.

He has recently undertaken several Freedom of Information requests regarding government accountability, which has led to a recent article in Byline Times on the spending the government has carried out regarding the Covid inquiry legal costs.

Ian firmly believes that making Hillingdon better must start with making the country itself better.  As such, he is committed to changing the laws which currently allow gross inequality of treatment based on wealth or class.  This means a root and branch reform of tax law so that the wealthy and large international corporations pay their fair share, a change to the electoral system to allow more views to be represented in Parliament, and a complete overhaul of the public sector to make sure that every person is entitled to good education and healthcare.  He's also not a huge fan of water companies paying out enormous salaries and dividends whilst dumping raw sewage into our waterways.

Ian is a keen photographer and web designer in addition to his main career as a financial planner.
