Winning Shropshire

LIB DEM VICTORY – gaining control of Shropshire Council from the Conservatives 

The Liberal Democrats won an overwhelming victory at the Shropshire Council elections in May 2025. The Liberal Democrats secured 42 seats (gaining 29) to take control of Shropshire Council. 

Meanwhile, the Conservatives, who had run Shropshire Council for 16 years, suffered a crushing defeat and ended up in third place. They lost 38 seats leaving them with just seven. 

The Conservatives' collapse came after years of mismanaging Shropshire Council and taking it close to bankruptcy.

The Liberal Democrats are now working hard to turn around the situation at Shropshire Council through prudent financial management, while improving many services.
