A report has been released by Local Partnerships on the £6.2millon contract given to consultants PwC by the Conservatives when they ran Shropshire Council. PwC were contracted to advise Shropshire Council on how they could save money and modernise.

The Local Partnership's report highlighted a number of failings and has made a number of recommendations on how to avoid mistakes being repeated. The report can be found here.

Commenting on the report, Lib Dem leader of Shropshire Council, Heather Kidd said: "This report exposes just how poor the last administration’s contract control was and goes a long way to explain the budgetary mess that we inherited last year, which included unachievable savings.

“I am glad to say, however, that changes have now been put in place measures to strengthen finance and procurement functions, and radically overhauled the way we commission and oversee major transformation. We have much work left to do, but we are now beginning to see some progress.”
