Shepway Schools Will Suffer under Government Cash Clawback Plan

The Liberal Democrats have called for new Government plans to take £225 million out of the cash reserves of up to 20,000 English schools to be scrapped. Figures suggest that 90% of Secondary and Primary schools across Shepway will have money 'clawed back' under the rule.

Folkestone Harvey Central Town Councillor Gary Fuller has learned that Sandgate Road in to Folkestone from Hythe will be closed for around 3 weeks. The closure is likely to cause significant traffic problems in the area, and lead to the diversion and disruption of bus services.

Gas Explosion Closes Part of Sandgate's Radnor Cliff

Parts of Radnor Cliff, Sandgate, will remain cordoned off for at least the next 24 hours following an explosion and fire at Cliffe House the early hours of Wednesday morning. Residents who have had to leave their homes will be unable to return tonight and will not be allowed back until gas levels have dropped.

White Lion Redevelopment Rejected by Shepway Council

Local residents were delighted last night plans for the redevelopment of the White Lion site on the junction of Cheriton High Street and Chilham Road, Folkestone, was rejected by Shepway Development Control due to concerns on the impact on parking locally. The plans were for a block for accommodation for 16 students plus 4 terraced houses on Chilham Road.
