Matthews: Conservatives walk away from phone mast battle

Shepway campaigner Neil Matthews has slated the Conservatives for refusing to support Lib Dem calls to tighten up planning rules on mobile phone masts. Currently, fewer restrictions govern planning applications for phone masts up to 15 metres in height, often making it difficult for councils to refuse permission for controversial proposals.

Cheriton Councillor Tim Prater has contacted Shepway Council to ask them to cut the grass verge be cut around the "Military Road" street sign at the bend where Risborough Lane turns into Military Road.

M20 Stop24 service area loses EAT

The "EAT" outlet at the troubled Stop24 service area at J11 of the M20 closed on Friday 4th July, causing a number of redundancies. The outlet's loss comes after the closure of "Muffinbreak" shortly after the opening of the service area, and is being blamed on lack of trade and poor users numbers to the service area.
