At a ceremony in London on Thursday it was announced that Folkestone's Lower Leas Coastal Park has again been awarded a Green Flag - national recognition that it is one of the top open spaces in the country and is welcoming, safe, well maintained and involves the local community

Fuller Tackles Tolputt on Pathways

Folkestone Liberal Democrat campaigner Gary Fuller has written to Conservative County Councillor Roland Tolputt to demand action on pathway potholes. A recent survey pathway survey in central Folkestone conducted by Gary found potholes, paint stains and damaged road signs.

New Brabner Park youth shelter

Young people using the Brabner Park play area in Folkestone now have a new teen shelter. The shelter, which was installed on Thursday (10 July), has a built-in solar powered radio and light. It cost just over £10,000 and was paid for by the De Haan Charitable Trust.

Val gets Coast Drive car park improvements

Action from New Romney Coast Councillor Val Loseby has led to new 'Dog Fouling' signs being erected in the Coast Drive car park and play area on The Greens. Dog fouling is a big problem in the area, especially with the weekly Boot Fairs on The Greens during the Summer months.

Folkestone's BIG Saturday: Raft Race, Harbour Festival & Charivari!

This Saturday 19th July) sees the Folkestone Raft Race & Harbour Festival from The Stade in Folkestone Harbour starting at 10am, with the Raft Race itself starting around midday. The reowned Charivari parade will take place in the afternoon with the procession starting at 2pm from the harbour.

Conservatives Christchurch Tower Shame

Conservatives on Shepway Council's Corporate Scrutiny Committee have backed a proposal to remove money to repair Folkestone's Christchurch Tower from the Council's capital budget. The decision was taken to support the move at the Scrutiny meeting on Monday 14th July, and is then referred for a final decision to the Council's Cabinet which meets on Wednesday 16th July.
