North Road, Cheriton junction "obvious" say Kent Highways, despite absence of Give Way signs
Kent Highways have replied to concerns raised by Cheriton Councillor Tim Prater about the absence of "Give Way" signs at the junction of North Road and Military Road on the Cheriton, Folkestone / Sandgate border. The reply promises that the junction will be "relined" in the near future, but that "Kent Highway Services will not at this current time be seeking installation of a give way sign at this location".

Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway confirms launch of new halt at Romney Warren
The official opening of the Romney Warren Halt serving the Romney Warren Visitor Centre has been announced, and will take place on Monday 16th February. The inaugural train for invited guests will depart at 11.00 hauled by "The Bug".

Prater welcomes Howard's response on Freedom of Information
Lib Dem Folkestone Councillor Tim Prater has welcomed Michael Howard's conformation that he was going to vote against the Freedom of Information (Parliament) Order 2009. The Order, which was intended to allow MPs a Freedom of Information loophole not to fully publish their expenses, was withdrawn after concerted opposition from the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives.

Council Tax Increase To Be Even Lower Than Expected
It has emerged today that Kent County Council chiefs have proposed a 2.44 per cent council tax increase for the next financial year - 0.41 per cent lower than was originally put forward by the authority last month.
