Housing charity Shelter has named Shepway as the 319th worst Council in the Country in its affordable housing league table - out of 323!

West Hythe worries as KCC can't fund traffic scheme
Residents are concerned as vehicles continue to speed along West Hythe Road. Following a meeting with Kent Highways it became clear the funding of a traffic calming scheme would prove difficult. Even providing a modern and inexpensive, solar-powered vehicle speed indicator will not be forthcoming from the County funds.

Prater and Dean Push for Fuller Disclosure of Kent County Council Expenditure
Liberal Democrat County Councillors Tim Prater and Trudy Dean have submitted a motion to the next full Kent County Council meeting calling for all items of revenue expenditure by the Council above £1,000 to be published. The proposals mirror the actions of the Greater London Authority, who took a similar step after Mayor Boris Johnson was elected.

Lib Dems Trounce Conservative and Labour in South Kent College Poll
Following an election hustings meeting on Monday 15th March at South Kent College in Folkestone, a ballot of students saw Liberal Democrat Candidate Lynne Beaumont win a landslide victory, with more votes than Labour and Conservatives combined.

Natural England requests 'call in' of planning permission decision for Lydd Airport
Natural England has written the Government Office of the South East (GOSE) requesting that Shepway District Council's resolution to grant planning permission for the London Ashford Airport (LAA) at Lydd be 'called in' for decision by the Secretary of State.
