Adoption of the revised Statement of Community Involvement 2011
Kent County Council's revised Statement of Community Involvement was formally adopted on 14 January 2011. The Statement of Community Involvement forms part of the Minerals and Waste Development Framework and sets out how the community will be engaged in the preparation of the Minerals and Waste Development Framework, and also how the community will be consulted on planning applications that are determined by Kent County Council.

Kent Highways have notified that it is necessary to close Risborough Way, Cheriton, Folkestone from Thursday 10 March 2011 for 2 nights. Works are planned to be carried between 7.00 pm and 5.00 am, with the road re-opened outside these hours.

£1.5 million Kent County Council fund launched for rural broadband
Rural communities who suffer from slow broadband will now be able to bid for funding to bring them up to speed. Kent County Council has announced a £1.5 million Superfast Broadband Pilot Fund to help rural communities benefit from high speed broadband.

Academy FM: Folkestone’s own radio station gets ready to launch
105.9 Academy FM, Folkestone's new community radio station, has announced that it will go on air at 12 noon on Thursday 31 March 2011. Broadcasting from the Folkestone Academy, the station will serve the communities of Folkestone, offering a comprehensive variety of programmes 24 hours a day, and will be commercial free.
