About Folkestone and Hythe Constituency
From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Folkestone and Hythe will include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of Broadmead, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Folkestone Central, Folkestone Harbour, Hythe, Hythe Rural, New Romney, Romney Marsh, Sandgate & West Folkestone, Walland & Denge Marsh.
The electorate will be reduced to bring it within the permitted range by transferring out the North Downs area in the north (North Downs East and North Downs West wards), along with the parts in the Borough of Ashford (Saxon Shore ward), primarily to the reconfigured constituency of Ashford.
The £140 universal state pension
Vince Cable has been on Radio 4 this morning outlining plans being brought forward by Lib Dem Government Minister Steve Webb to introduce a universal State Pension of £140 to all those of pensionable age, regardless of previous contributions.

Poppy Appeal Launch
At the launch of the Poppy Appeal, in its 90th year, 5 veterans each aged 90, represented the brave people who gave their lives for our freedom. After a moving ceremony and where the military history of the 5 veterans were read out, schoolchildren presented each of the 5 with the first poppies of the year. 5 young servicemen and women also received their poppies - the picture of young and old standing together was a strong image.
