New boundaries for the 2024 General Election.
From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Folkestone and Hythe will include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of Broadmead, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Folkestone Central, Folkestone Harbour, Hythe, Hythe Rural, New Romney, Romney Marsh, Sandgate & West Folkestone, Walland & Denge Marsh.
The electorate will be reduced to bring it within the permitted range by transferring out the North Downs area in the north (North Downs East and North Downs West wards), along with the parts in the Borough of Ashford (Saxon Shore ward), primarily to the reconfigured constituency of Ashford.
Former Folkestone & Sandgate County Councillor Tim Prater has welcomed news that lorry drivers have been banned from parking on a number of roads across the district overnight and at weekends.
Commenting on the draft Investigatory Powers Bill due to be published this week, Liberal Democrat Home Affairs spokesman Alistair Carmichael said:
