New boundaries for the 2024 General Election.
From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Folkestone and Hythe will include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of Broadmead, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Folkestone Central, Folkestone Harbour, Hythe, Hythe Rural, New Romney, Romney Marsh, Sandgate & West Folkestone, Walland & Denge Marsh.
The electorate will be reduced to bring it within the permitted range by transferring out the North Downs area in the north (North Downs East and North Downs West wards), along with the parts in the Borough of Ashford (Saxon Shore ward), primarily to the reconfigured constituency of Ashford.
We're really sorry to have heard that former Lib Dem Sandgate Parish Councillor Ann Rimmer died yesterday after a short battle with cancer.
In the first ever full council debate on the future of Princes Parade, Folkestone and Hythe District Council passed a motion to Save Princes Parade from development and instead build a new swimming pool and leisure centre at Martello Lakes. The motion was proposed by Lib Dem Councillor Tim Prater and seconded by Green Councillor Lesley Wybrow, ond was won by 15 votes to 14.
Brian Copping served as a Councillor for Foord ward on Shepway District Council for around 30 years, and also Folkestone Town Council for eight years. He sadly passed away around 30 May.
