Government must support local councils, not impose top down reorganisation
Ahead of the Government's motion on the Local Government Boundary Commission, Liberal Democrat Local Government spokesperson Tim Farron said:
New boundaries for the 2024 General Election.
From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Folkestone and Hythe will include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of Broadmead, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Folkestone Central, Folkestone Harbour, Hythe, Hythe Rural, New Romney, Romney Marsh, Sandgate & West Folkestone, Walland & Denge Marsh.
The electorate will be reduced to bring it within the permitted range by transferring out the North Downs area in the north (North Downs East and North Downs West wards), along with the parts in the Borough of Ashford (Saxon Shore ward), primarily to the reconfigured constituency of Ashford.
Ahead of the Government's motion on the Local Government Boundary Commission, Liberal Democrat Local Government spokesperson Tim Farron said:
On Thursday, I asked F&HDC Cabinet Member for Housing David Godfrey and his Housing Team to clarify the current position on Fire Risk Assessments in Folkestone & Hythe District Council's blocks of flats, and how the the remedial work that those inspecitions have flagged up, are going.
Following the decision of Folkestone and Hythe District Council (and the other three partner Councils) to close East Kent Housing and return to direct control of their own housing stock, work has been progressing fast.
We are so pleased you want to join the team.
