New boundaries for the 2024 General Election.
From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Folkestone and Hythe will include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of Broadmead, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Folkestone Central, Folkestone Harbour, Hythe, Hythe Rural, New Romney, Romney Marsh, Sandgate & West Folkestone, Walland & Denge Marsh.
The electorate will be reduced to bring it within the permitted range by transferring out the North Downs area in the north (North Downs East and North Downs West wards), along with the parts in the Borough of Ashford (Saxon Shore ward), primarily to the reconfigured constituency of Ashford.
After over 3 years without a central library worth its name, Kent County Council have confirmed a new facility will open at 14 Sandgate Road on Tuesday 26 May 2026.
Folkestone & Hythe District Council is to contribute £236,000 towards the work required to reopen the Road of Remembrance.
The 2026 HG Wells Short Story Competition is now open. The theme is THE CHEAT: make of it what you will. This annual national (but Sandgate run) Competition offers a £500 Senior, £1,000 Junior prize & free publication of all shortlisted entries.
