Ashford Parliamentary Constituency
Now covering the Folkestone & Hythe District Council wards of North Downs East and North Downs West
New boundaries for the 2024 General Election.
About Ashford Constituency
From the 2024 General Election, the Parliamentary Constituency of Ashford will (pretty ridiculously, in our opinion) include the District of Folkestone and Hythe wards of North Downs East and North Downs West, in addtion to the Ashford Borough Council seats of:
Aylesford & East Stour, Beaver, Bircholt, Bockhanger, Bybrook, Conningbrook & Little Burton Farm, Furley, Goat Lees, Godinton, Highfield, Kennington, Mersham, Sevington South with Finberry, Norman, Park Farm North, Park Farm South, Repton, Roman, Singleton East, Singleton West, Stanhope, Victoria, Washford, Willesborough, Wye with Hinxhill.
The Ashford seat therefore stretches pretty much to the coast, across an area that in no way could be called Ashford: Ashford and North Downs, maybe.
Free Radical: Vince Cable Memoirs
Vince Cable is Member of Parliament for Twickenham and has been the Liberal Democrats' chief economic spokesperson since 2003, having previously served as Chief Economist for Shell from 1995 to 1997. Vince has just published his memoirs "Free Radical", in which he recalls a life of wide variety and great interest - and ballroom dancing!

Folkestone Gallery commissions H G Wells inspired art
In support of the Folkestone Book Festival the Neville Pundole Gallery has specially commissioned pieces by several artists, inspired by the works of H. G. Wells. The exhibition is comprised of works in Pottery, Glass and Paint; all drawing their influence from not only Wells' more famous works such as "The War of the Worlds" and "The Time Machine", but also "The Sea Lady… a Tissue of Moonshine" which Wells wrote whilst living in Folkestone.
