Job Title: Campaigns Organiser (Wells & Mendip Hills Liberal Democrats)

Salary: Pro-rata based on a full-time rate of £30,000 per annum

Location: Home working, with travel within the constituency. The applicant must have a clean full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Days: 2 Days per week

Tenure: Fixed term part-time contract with 3 months probation

Responsible to: The designated Regional Campaigns Manager

Summary

Tessa Munt MP and the local Liberal Democrats are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated person who can play a key role in building the volunteer infrastructure, organising doorstep activity and helping the team work towards the Somerset Council elections in 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact on developing the local party and ensuring future electoral success.

Amongst other tasks you will be communicating with volunteers about upcoming campaign activities, recruiting new volunteers, coordinating constituency door knocking efforts, and working together with Tessa and the wider team to steer the campaigning efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Campaign Support:
○ Assist the Constituency Executive Committee in planning, driving, and executing campaign strategies for Somerset Council elections in 2027.
○ Work closely with the local councillors and candidates to coordinate canvassing efforts
○ Coordinate campaign activities, from canvassing to fundraising events, and track progress against agreed targets.
2. Event Coordination and Fundraising:
○ Support the planning, setup, and delivery of local party events
○ Provide support for fundraising initiatives, helping organise events and working with the MP in researching/identifying potential donors

3. Local Party Website and Social Media:
○ Working with the MP and their team to maintain and update the local party website
○ Coordinating robust social media strategy to promote Liberal Democrat values
○ Engage with members, supporters, and the wider public through online channels to boost visibility

4. Membership Engagement and Support:
○ Assist the Membership Secretary with recruitment drives to increase party membership
○ Regularly communicate with party members and supporters, ensuring they are informed and engaged in the campaign and local party activities.
○ Help organise training sessions for party members, providing necessary resources for building a robust local team.

5. Liaison and Representation:
○ Liaise with local organisations, community groups, and political bodies to promote the Liberal Democrat message and build relationships.
○ Provide advice and coordination for the MP, local councillors, and the Constituency Executive Committee.
6. Additional Duties:

○ Carry out any other duties as the Constituency Executive Committee sees fit that align with the goals of the local party and its campaign efforts.

Essential Criteria:

● Strong planning and organisational skills
● Effective in communicating with various stakeholders through multiple channels
● Strong time management skills to ensure deadlines are met
● Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and motivate supporters, members, and volunteers.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team, under the direction of the Constituency Executive Committee and Regional Campaign Manager.
● A passion for Liberal Democrat values and political engagement.
● Holding a full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable Criteria:

● Proficiency in digital content creation, social media management, and website maintenance.
● Experience in canvassing and political campaigning, ideally within the context of local elections.
● Experience managing events and campaigns.
● Experience of working with volunteers and the ability to effectively delegate
