Job Title: Campaign Organiser and Constituency Assistant

Working For: Ian Roome MP & the North Devon Liberal Democrats

Location: Barnstaple

Salary: £24,000 - £26,000

Split: 20:80 (Campaign Organiser : Constituency Assistant)

Length of Contract: 12 months fixed term (with possible permanent role)

Ian Roome and the North Devon Liberal Democrats are recruiting a split role of Campaign Organiser and Constituency Assistant. You will work for the North Devon Liberal Democrats organising campaigns and volunteers for the MP and for local election candidates, as well as for the MP’s Parliamentary office on constituency administration and non-party political matters.

As Campaign Organiser you will:
■ Build campaigning and organisational capability, including recruiting members and
volunteers, and managing personnel across all aspects of campaigning.
■ Design and deliver a programme of doorstep communication with voters.
■ Organise the delivery of the campaign plan.
■ Plan and support fundraising, including campaigns and events.
■ Attend relevant conferences, training and other meetings as required.
■ Assist with press and digital media as required.

As Constituency Assistant you will:
■ Assist with casework and correspondence between the MP and constituents
■ Support constituency surgeries, meetings and public events
■ Monitor media coverage, community groups and constituency developments
■ Assist with press and digital media as required.
■ Research local issues and public policy
■ Schedule appointments and undertake general office administration

Essential Criteria

■ Strong communication, written and interpersonal skills.
■ Ability to lead, mobilise and manage volunteers.
■ Good personal organisation and planning abilities
■ Proficiency managing own workload and multiple tasks.
■ Familiarity with current issues in UK politics.
■ Sympathy with values of the Liberal Democrats.

Desirable Criteria:

■ Experience of delivering Liberal Democrat campaigns.
■ Previous communications and political experience.
■ Experience of Liberal Democrat systems, software and databases.
■ Driving license and access to a vehicle for business use

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Parliamentary Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
